Pointe Shoes Part 2 of 2
The Old and The New
Yes, pointe shoes get old after lots of use. I replace mine every 6 months but other dancers can even replace them every month its crazy and expensive. I'm going to take you through the steps of getting new pointe shoes:
#1 Pointe shoes so not come with the ribbons attached so you have to sew them on. For me the sewing process takes a bout an hour and a half but it ranges for each dancer.
#2 After the sewing comes the breaking in portion. I don't know if you have ever had a pair of hiking but they don't feel the greatest if you do not wear them around the house for a couple hours before you go hiking. This is almost the case with pointe. But with pointe shoes it is quite more extensive and painful. You have to beat on them with hammers and do lots of exercises.
#4 Dead pointe shoes are not my favorite other people love them but I do not. They are not supportive and are some times quite painful in my opinion. Then it time to get new ones and the process starts all over again.
